And I can certainly grasp that. I know you don't get it, but protesting people who deny that Zelda is Shiek canonically isn't hating on the people who are just interested in AU.

All she's good for is ordering other people around. She's not as bad in, say, Smash Bros. There she can stick up for herself. But in the Zelda games, she just gasps and giggles and tells Link that he needs to save her.
Sheik, on the other hand, is a much stronger character. She's a warrior. She's downright badass. So I think, based on THOSE reasons, I'm entitled to hate Zelda and like Sheik.

Bull. Shiek IS Zelda. They're the SAME character. Zelda dresses up like Shiek to take care of herself.
