Personally, I haven't had any problems with subtitled media except for some Chinese and Korean dramas recently, but that happens mostly when the subs are not well-done (not profesionally done - translators produce too long sentences for the amount of time that's available to read them (there are certain standards for that), the translations are too literal, and thus, confusing, etc. - it all makes subtitles more distracting and harder to deal with than usual).
