That does sound very annoying. Not very surprising, somehow, what with all the bestsellers of the last decade that are fanfic with the names swapped out, but still very annoying.
A favourite story of mine was deleted under similar circumstances, and I hadn't saved it first (╥_╥)

Oh yeah, those last few episodes took a really hard left turn. I never, ever expected to feel fearful for anybody's life on that show. I wasn't a big fan of what Haida did in the last episode (and I usually love Haida), but I did enjoy this season more than the previous one.

Wait, sorry, so you have never previously tried to consume media with subtitles? Or it's been a long time, at least?
Wow, now I'm really curious about what languages you speak. Me, I love subtitles. I find then far more reliable than human accents, sound engineers, or my garbage brain's occasional inability to parse spoken language.
