Questions/advice thread

Because I have a question (about Tumblr) and figured I'd make it a general thread so others could ask them as well.

Tumblr question

[personal profile] philstar22 2020-09-17 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
So I went back to Tumblr a few days ago after being away for a while. And I found that my Stylish background that I had installed no longer worked. I tried installing a different one and that didn't work either. It seemed like Stylish wasn't working at all?

So then I turned Stylish off and installed Themes on Xkit. Only it wouldn't let me turn on any of the themes. And when I installed Themes+, it let me select some customization, but when I hit save it wouldn't save and didn't change my journal background.

Is this just a me issue, or are others having issues? Is there a workaround or something I can use to change the background of my Tumblr?

Based on #1

(Anonymous) 2020-09-17 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you ever want to be famous, and if so for what?

Re: Based on #1

(Anonymous) 2020-09-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't want to be famous under my own name. I'd love to become famous through publishing a series of books under a pen name though.

Nope. I'm a pretty private person and fame isn't kind to anybody.

Either famous for writing some really good books, for doing some great acting in films (and I win some Oscars), or for being one of the most beautiful models.

I'd love to be known for my writing. But even then, I'd prefer to keep the focus on my works and not myself. I'd be perfectly happy putting out stuff that people loved to read while living a quiet, peaceful life away from the spotlight.

I would like to be famous for having the perfect and correct opinion about everything

Re: Based on #1

(Anonymous) 2020-09-18 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I would much rather be very rich and anonymous.

Only if I could be famous for being a poet. I don't want to give up my anonymity for fame. I like my privacy.

I would love to be famous. I like being the center of attention, but I also have zero need for attention, so I think I'd actually handle fame tolerably well.

Ideally I'd like to be famous for a skill I had, like acting or song-writing. If I could turn out bops like Taylor Swift, that would be very cool. Her song-writing process just seems really confident to me, which is what draws me too it. She doesn't seem to be dependent on the muse to get songs written; song writing is a process and she trusts the process. That's how I'd like to be, artistically.

I'm pretty content with just being known around my area as "the one with the crazy hair who the kids think is either a fairy or a witch".

I would vastly prefer money over fame but I do fantasize about becoming interesting enough as a human being to warrant some semblance of effect on others.

everyone is famous in their own circle. how large that circle is, well...

I have been at alternate points in life, a radio DJ with a significant (for our market) fan following, a Star Wars BNF, and a cosplay guest speaker and judge. Mind, the only time I ever signed autographs was as a DJ, and to be honest I found it very weird. Like, I knew that I was "known," that people could hear my voice when I spoke to someone in public and realize it was me, but I still had a very quiet life outside the station and could still go grocery shopping without being accosted, so I found fame very weird.

Nowadays? I'm old and crotchety and want literally all of you to get off my lawn. If I became famous for...idk, I guess I could still toe the line of cosplay-famous, I would still only be famous when I went to a convention. I can still enjoy a mostly peaceful life. But if the fame you're talking about is literally 100k Twitter/Instagram followers hanging on every useless word and being recognized in the grocery store...no thanks. No amount of money is worth constant attention. Give me D-list celebrity status where I could probably go six months between people recognizing me on the street and the occcasional residual check from some media property and now we're talking.

I don't think I want to be famous (except if it afforded me the opportunity to meet some famous people I admire). But I'd like to watch a movie about what my life would be like if I were famous.

Which do you prefer - the original song or the remix?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-18 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly depends on the song. Usually the original, but I was also last year years old when I found out Natalie Imbruglia's Torn was a remake, but I can't ever imagine any other version.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-18 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
just depends on how good either version sounds.

For instance, I like the original versions of Linkin Park's earlier songs - but I still love their reanimation album more.

Anyone get a PS5 preorder invite email?

I got one. I have a feeling if you're not there waiting to preorder once Sony's site opens you'll be SOL.
