I get your point and there were a few scenes where she rumored people that were so satisfying, but I think it might've undermined Allison's arc a little to have her go around rumoring everybody who was a racist prick to not be a racist prick.

Okay. For the most part I agree with you here. However, there have been a few shows where there have been clear sign posts for a relationship and the reason it hasn't happened is because of the politics going on behind the scenes.

The clearest example I can think of is Janeway/Chakotay in Voyager. It seemed like a fair assumption that they would get together and tgat Seven would end up with either Harry Kim or the Doctor. Instead... yeah.

Good for you being that dedicated even though you encountered the same frustration that hits most fans who go down this route!

They've got audio recordings of some so have been able to adapt missing episodes via animation but yes, overall it's not good. Maybe some will turn up the way they have done on occasion, but I think it's sadly unlikely we'll get the whole show back. The BBC (among others) wiped out quite a lot of good stuff.

I feel bad for my dad because he's been a fan for the entire run of the show and his favourite Doctor is Two and many of those serials have good childhood memories for him. Two had more episodes deleted than One :(

For what it's worth OP, I don't think you're dumb at all. I first watched this serial when I was young (like 7-8 years old) and my dad warned me it was going to happen so I didn't react particularly strongly. BUT...

Doctor Who doesn't kill off companions very often. It's just not something the show does. I think it's totally normal to be thrown by that. Also yes there's decades of people saying that Adric is annoying but it doesn't make you wrong for going against the consensus and connecting with him on some level. If anything you did well to fight against the fanon and come out of it all thinking something different about him.
