Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

RGB ended her life as a shitty old bitch who refused to relinquish her power (despite Obama begging her to in 2014) because of her shitty old bitch ego, and thus it is directly her fault that we're in the situation we're in right now. It's really casted a stink on all the good she's done. Because those same women she fought so hard for are now in horrible danger of losing everything she fought for, because she just couldn't fucking retire.

I understand why she didn't retire - I think it was strongly influenced by Sandra Day O'Connor, who retired despite being physically and mentally capable of doing the work because she wanted to spend more time with her dying husband, and then her husband passed away and she apparently deeply regretted that she had retired. But it was clearly the wrong choice, even at the time.

Go fuck yourself. And for the record she did some amazing things in the last few years that wouldn't have happened if she retired.

No matter what she did in the last 6 years, I'd rather have a moderate liberal in the seat who was going to live for another 15 or 20 or 30 years.

da

Assuming they didn't have some underlying health problem, or didn't die in a car crash at a most inconvenient time.

The reality is that as long as SC appointments are for life, you have to think in actuarial terms about Supreme Court seats.

RBG was a great woman in a lot of ways. Her decision to hold on to her seat was selfish in the context of the way the US political system works.

Who?

They meant RBG - Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A US Supreme Court justice who died on Friday. People are very concerned with who she'll be replaced with since is up to the president to nominate and the Senate to confirm.

Ah, okay. Thank you. I had no idea.
