This is less of an opinion and more of a conspiracy theory, but here goes.

I think gender reveal parties are fake. I've never met anyone who's had one or been to one, so the only place I hear about them is online, usually to mock them. The only time I have proof that one has happened is when it makes the news because it caused mass destruction. I think those "parties" are held by undercover anti-gender groups and that they're destructive on purpose, because the goal is to get attention and show people that gender is bad because gender reveal parties always end in disaster.

Not only have I never seen one, I've never seen tangible proof of one among anyone I know personally. I have hundreds of Facebook friends, so there's always someone having a baby. But none of them ever have gender reveal parties. I work in a big office, so it's normal to hear about someone who knows someone who's having a baby. No mention of going to a gender reveal party. Baby showers? Sure, all the time! Gender reveal parties? Never, not once.

Exactly! Finally, someone who understands that binturongs are fake because if they were real either I or one of my Facebook friends would have seen one in person!

Thanks for the laugh, anon! I wish they were fake, but I've been to three this year alone lmao. Most of them just... aren't destructive. It's usually just a cake or something that's either pink or blue on the inside.

My coworker had one. For some reason, she invited everybody in our office and passed out a goody bag that would be filled with either pink or blue candy. She and her husband counted to three, everyone opened their bags (which were filled with blue lollipops and blue M&Ms), and they shouted, "We're having a boy!". It was a little weird.

Unfortunately they are real (unfortunate because I think they're dumb). It's just usually something involving colored cake/balloons/confetti rather than the crazy ones that make the news.

I'm a pinterest mom (if by that you mean a mom who likes and uses pinterest for ideas). I hate gender reveal parties with the power of a thousand suns. They are such bullshit.

Like babies? A parent will know what gender their baby will be unless they specifically ask not to know. Gender reveal parties are just baby showers x2 because the parents are that excited about their child, generally they are one and the same.

This is because gender is easily distinguished while in the womb as the child develops. It has nothing to do with identity, only conception.
