Some people use their mental illness as an excuse to be shitty to others.

Source: am mentally ill, was shitty and used mental illness as an excuse for a long time. Still can be shitty on occasion but am trying to be better about it. Also know a couple people who are mentally ill and choose to use their diagnosis as an excuse to be shitty; it's not the mental illness that is making me or them shitty, just bad behavior all around.

i'm mentally ill myself, and this is something i've recognized in myself and am struggling to change. but at least i'm trying.
