whedon's misogyny is thinking that traumatized women can only relate to other traumatized men, and/or literal monsters

Does he say this in an interview somewhere? Because Nat being paired with Bruce because they're both traumatized in a way that makes them see themselves as monsters is not unreasonable, in an of itself. It's only unreasonable if the belief is that all traumatized people can only ever be with traumatized people.

i.e. someone like nat would not be great in a relationship where she sees her professional role as main manipulator

The flip-side being: showing genuine kindness and compassion to someone she cares about in an effort to deescalate a situation might feel like exactly the kind of "good" work she never got to do in her former life/occupation. *shrugs* I think you can frame the whole Hulk whisperer deal in more than one way.

You can look at his work, literally all of his original work, if you want.

I mean I'm kinda surprised that you think deescalation of this sort was not what she did in her former duties. it's part of her training, she mostly uses it on everyone she meets in some form or another. steve basically told her that that sort of relative positioning is unwelcome in actual friendships.
