Clarification: It's a fantasy version of that country. Somewhat in the way that the Seven Kingdoms is a fantasy version of the UK/Europe.

I personally believe that everyone has the right to write anything they want. But there's an infamous case of a person from a Russian diaspora writing a fantasy series inspired by the Russian culture (the Grishaverse), which got the culture so wrong, it was universally mocked in Russia.

At least the author of Grishaverse only wanted to write a cool fantasy series with some Russian flavor, not to write a fantasy series that Russians would identify with and feel represented by. But the entire point of #ownvoices is representation, so I'd still advise you to give your writing first to people, who live in the country, so they can fact-check it before you make it public and can no longer make changes.
