(Anonymous) 2020-09-28 01:56 am (UTC)(link)What it comes down to is most of his methods rely on basically "Guess what i want you to do and i'll hurt you until you guess right." He doesn't teach the dogs what he wants, but punishes any misstep. Which sure, gets a dog to "behave" but mostly because they are afraid to do anything. So that creates dogs who are psychologically shut down, or repressed until they blow up and bite the fuck out of the first person they feel they can "overpower" ... because they were taught that "might makes right".
When dealing with fear his usual go-to is flooding which has been known to cause PTSD. (i always make a comparison that if say you had a fear of spiders and a friend threw a tarantula on your face, or locked you in a room full of spiders crawling everywhere... you would not be less scared of spiders, but you would never trust that "friend" again ... hell there would be a big chance you would have full blown phobia after that experience)
