Um...I looked at the page, but Tobi doesn't really say that Itachi's lover was one of the clan's members =/ He might have mentioned it later, though, can't really recall

He doesn't directly state it, but it's rather implied by the fact that if his lover wasn't, he wouldn't have had to kill him/her. And by the fact that we've never heard of Itachi killing anybody aside from the Uchihas.

I have only second-hand knowledge of Naruto, but incest because of fucked up historical stuffs (see also: pretty much all European royalty) interests me. Since Itachi never killed anyone but his own family, what blood relation did he have with the friend that's mentioned on that page? Is that known?

The friend is probably the guy he killed to get the Mangekyou Sharingan eyes. I don't think their exact relationship was gone into in much depth, but he was a member of the same clan.

Thanks for the answer! Heh, if the incestuous lovers thing ever becomes more-than-implied canon, I might have to start reading or watching Naruto. (God help me! XD)

I doubt Kishimoto did it intentionally; it seems more likely to me that he sucks at keeping his own canon straight and just failed to realize the implications of what he was writing.
