If that's your opinion of that show, then frankly, I don't WANT your respect. ^_^

I think it's awesome, shiny, pretty and cracktastic fluff. I've read almost every book adaptation of the Arthurian legends (and a lot of other people in the fandom have done similar - some of them BECAUSE of this show getting them interested). Lighten up and grow a sense of humour, dude.

141. Speaking as someone who doesn't watch Merlin and is a huge Arthurianophile or whatever it's supposed to be called... oh, please. People are allowed to watch stuff simply for entertainment, not because they ~want to find out about King Arthur~.

There IS no such thing as murdering the King Arthur story. The King Arthur myth is a zombie with arms and legs and fingers sewn onto it from a dozen different sources. And... it's a myth. And Merlin is a dorky TV show, as far as I can understand. It's not srs business or anything worth losing respect for people over :/

It's not even that "yeah, there are variations". There isn't really an original theme. What are we going to call the First, True, Proper King Arthur Story? Le Morte? Monmouth? The scattered and disagreeing collection of Welsh and Breton folk tales? So Merlin may be fucking with it a lot, and may be more for the modern-TV-audience entertainment than preserving any of the purity (such as there is any purity) of the "actual" King Arthur story. So... what?
