Yes, but Romana clearly controlled her regeneration, and they specifically mentioned that she looked like Astra. Plus, Astra was a good guy, as opposed to an evil bastard like ASH's character, so it made a lot more sense that a good guy would want to look like her.

And for the record, Colin Baker was in an episode before he became the Doctor (the 5th Doctor episode "Arc of Infinity"). But CBaker's character was minor; ASH's character was a main bad guy; plus he's played by a high profile actor.

And I'll admit I'm partially against this idea because I'm in the "the next Doctor shouldn't be a damn sex symbol" camp.

I definitely see where you're coming from and I think my love for ASH is sort of making me excited at the suggestion of him on Who again. Then again, I don't think he's particularly sexy; just a top-notch actor.

I kind of want to give you a hug for that last comment about the Doctor being a sex symbol, because I totally get the "let's make the series less shippy and fangirly" idea (I think Donna not having a romantic attachment to Ten is one of the best decisions in the new series.), but can you imagine the wank if Eleven was -gasp!- not sexy like Nine or Ten? I'm giggling at the prospect of "OMG, why isn't the Doctor hot?" threads.

Then again, I don't think he's particularly sexy; just a top-notch actor.

Oh, he's a very good actor, but a LOT of people (myself included) also find him very attractive.

Hehe, thanks. I probably wouldn't mind the Doctor being attractive so much if I didn't know it would lead to every girl in the show wanting to get him into bed. There were nice looking Doctors in the past, and they managed to keep things platonic...
