Everyone seems to ignore the fact that furries are not by definition into anything kinky, because the loosest definition of the term includes everyone who thinks anthropomorphic animals are kinda cool. So furry-hate would be better compared to hating fans of soccer because some of them might fap to the idea of kicking balls into goals. To complete the analogy, these 'rather overenthusiastic' soccer fans would then start crying loudly about being prosecuted, causing all regular soccer fans to stop identifying themselves as soccer fans because they don't want people to think they have the hots for nice goals, while non-soccer-fans would say such things as "I'm not a soccer-fan, but I still fapped when that ball was kicked into the goal last night."

167. I don't think that anyone who thinks anthropomorphic animals are kinda cool are furries. For example, I love "The Secret of NIMH" and the old Bugs Bunny cartoons, but I wouldn't call myself a furry. I think there's more to it than just liking certain shows or movies.

I dunno, I've seen secrets here that are like, "I like StarFox but I'm scared of telling anyone 'cause they might think I'm a furry" or "I thought the Great Mouse Detective was cute when I was ten OMG I'M A FURRY." I think it's stupid, but apparently it's something some people worry about.

Yeah, but I've seen people also worry "I had a sex dream about a member of the same sex OMG AM I GAY NOW?" but that doesn't make them gay.

Your analogy sucks because soccer fans wouldn't cry, they'd punch you in the face and call you a dick.

As for furry fans, I don't think people realize that a lot of the hate towards them is confirmed and fueled by the behavior of the very vocal and very whiny minority of furry fans that do see the fandom as nothing more than fetish fuel. Is it fair? Hell no. But does it happen? Yes.

And secrets like 167 just add fuel to the fire because they're not secrets so much as someone trying to start a pissing contest because they're feeling oppressed on the internet. This part, I think, is what is causing the most reaction. Not the fact that furries are 'an abomination', though you have some assholes spouting that too. Which, in a way, makes the other side just as bad as the whiners.
