Less representation of black people in what? Are Asians (Chinese specifically) people not also underrepresented in American media, if that's the context you're using?

Stories like this? Fantasy, historical fiction, soap opera etc. Not only in the West, either. I really don't see anything wrong with imagining these characters with darker skin in fanart. That's what fanworks are for.

It's not the same as being some Hollywood company and making a manga adaptation with all-white actors or something like that.

But your argument is based on a minority being under-represented. Isn't that also true of Asians in western media, Chinese specifically?
