It's just so incredibly disappointing that the people writing this movie though that Mulan having zero ability and having to work hard to gain it wasn't an empowering story.

To paraphrase Jeremy Jahns review of Pan. 'It creates a rift, it now divides you from the character'.

It's one thing to distance themselves from the animated movie by removing the songs, theme and characters. But they removed the heart as well.
