You talk a lot here about sharing and looking at leaked photos as a bad thing to do. But the consensus argument now is apparently that no one has a problem with fans wanting to see nudes, and no one has ever objected to wanting to fans wanting to see leaked nudes or sharing leaked nudes. Rather, the argument is that the only thing that people have ever objected to is slut-shaming of actresses, and sharing leaked nudes is fine as long as you don't slut-shame or pressure the celebrity involved. At least, that was the position being argued in yesterday's thread, because it turns out that actually, a lot of female fans did want to look at Chris Evans' dick pic.

Anyway, I agree that the horny guy community around sharing actresses' pics is unbearably terrible and indefensibly awful, I don't think there's any argument about that, even if I question some of the other arguments people are making. Those guys are undeniably terrible dickheads.

I haven't seen this but all the details I've heard about it are utterly baffling. Like... who thought this was okay and WHY? The "qi is only for men" thing is the weirdest take on it. It's as if this movie was written and planned by people who'd never seen the animated version and didn't understand a single thing about why people enjoyed it.

I agree. It feels totally fake, like now that the tide has (kind of) turned, she can say "I agree with everyone else, aren't they kind of bad abusers??" but she worked with both of them to further her career. Neither of them have even been punished for what they've done, and honestly it's probably more than anything else because of enablers. So I wasn't feeling much patient with her after-the-fact regret for working with them. Obviously, she's not the abuser herself, but she's an enabler and fuck enablers.

We hold people accountable for shitty actions, no matter who they are. We don't turn around and suddenly reward them because they say they're sorry, even if they're genuinely remorseful and willing to repent. They do their time. Then maybe sometime down the road, they get a second chance, assuming there isn't a pattern of: A says sorry, everyone says it's okay, A thinks this is a green light to be an asshole again.

At least, that's how I see it.

I've not played The Council, but in FAITH you are definitely supposed to think the "preacher" is wrong for what he did. Granted, in FAITH demons might actually be real. Or the protagonist is having some crazy hallucinations.
