OK, you're getting a lot of negative responses, but I honestly love this secret. This is what I come to f!s for.

I'm not sure what I think about the situation as a whole, or whether it bothers me nearly as much as it does you (okay, it... does not, though I have some qualms about fanfiction with the serial numbers filed off to be monetized). It raises some interesting questions for me about plagiarizing "fanon"— when the copied characters or tropes are not from a specific published work, but are from collaboratively formed fandom tropes that have little to do with the original work while still being recognizable to fandom members as, like, fanon Kylo Ren, or whoever.

LOL, plagiarizing fanon? That's not a thing. Fanon tropes are no different from standard literary tropes, which also don't arise out of nothing.
