Um. No. It has nothing to do with combat ability. Its about romanticizing a young woman chasing after a man that physically tortured her, lied to and belittled her, murdered people she cared about, and is a leading member of a fascist organization run on the backs of slaves because she thinks her love can 'save him'. Honestly, the scene that soured me to the ship entirely is when he looks her deadass in the eye and says 'You are nothing. But not to me.' Its... pretty fucking classic negging. H

And in the end according to Disney, it totally pays off and he becomes 'good', to the point where his personality and mannerisms completely change and he sacrifices his life to save hers!

Exactly! (Ugh, the 'you are nothing' bit especially.)

Honestly, the "combat ability" argument here shows yet again why we need to kill the Strong Female Character misunderstanding. Apparently, if a woman has some fighting ability, then it's all OK! Everyone knows the key to a successful relationship is that both sides can hold their own in a physical fight with each other!
