Re: What Was The Single Most Devastating Moment In Fandom For You?

When this asshole came out of nowhere and split a community with drama and fake shit. They spread rumors about comm members and broke up relationships, and had the comm owner in their back pocket so by the time I said anything, I was accused of being the jerk. I was told I "did WAY worse" in the past as if to justify asshole's actions. Which, I won't lie, could have been true, but comm owner was barely even around while everything was going on. Also, I never broke up comms/relationships on a whim to satisfy MY wants, everyone else be damned.

Anyway, A (for asshole, of course) had their own comm but kept bringing in their people, not to mix and mingle, but to basically make it THEIR second comm. So of course, A would accuse anyone raising concerns about it of being exclusionary jerks. Oddly, for all they preached about communities not being static, they never seemed to understand it also applied to them.

I left after giving the finger to the comm owner (not my proudest moment) and surprise, surprise, that's when people started to wise up to A. I tried joining other comms but it was never quite the same. I ended up in a couple of semi-stable groups but never felt that closeness I had with friends in that first comm. Cue tiny violin. Eventually, I did return to the old comm after A was thoroughly exposed and fled, but I barely recognized anyone. At least there was no more drama, I guess.

You are very right. Your drama is opposite... and it seems sadder overall.
