(Anonymous) 2020-09-27 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)The worst part was, the fandom consensus on IWTB was largely positive for the first couple of months after it came out. It was like people were just too invested in it being good to allow themselves to acknowledge it...wasn't. So I went into it thinking it would be at least decent, because the fans who'd seen it already were mostly saying it was good. A few months later, almost everyone had come around to agreeing it was bad.

As flat and out of place as the shitty MOTW plot felt under the circumstances, the most damning thing about IWTB for me was that Mulder and Scully felt so OOC throughout, like neither the actors nor the writers managed to find the characters after so long away.
