Re: Based on the first secret

I'm always a slut for characters being put into an arranged marriage with someone they barely know or don't know at all and then they gradually fall in love as time passes and they get to know each other. I'm especially a slut for stories where the marriage is for a political purpose and the couple has to deal with political stuff along with their marital relationship. Bonus points if one or both doesn't actually want to be in the marriage at first and is only doing it For The Kingdom/For The Family and we get to see them first trying to learn to get along for the sake of the alliance or what have you and then gradually developing a personal relationship after that.

yeah!!!!!

also ESPECIALLY where one of them doesn't want to be in the relationship and the other one is Totally Understanding And Kind About It

just, so many emotional dynamics in that realm are so fucking perfect, I can eat that shit up with a spoon and never get tired of it, I want to mainline it into my veins

First ones that come to mind are two books by Rosemary Sutcliff, "Mark of the Horse Lord" and "The Lantern Bearers." It's not the main focus of either book but it's a significant plot point in both
