I already said one but another was when Photobucket started to charge for their image upload service after about 10 years where it was for free.

Not only did so many fanworks like icons/banners/memes/etc get lost but I feel like it had a major effect on platforms like Livejournal , Dreamwidth and anywhere else that replies on having an available image upload service. Imgur is alright but can be limited and in don't think the folks managing the site like to be used as just an image upload service (like when imgur blocked their images from showing up on LJ).
