interesting. I've seen both that one and the 50's one but not the more recent one. I like the 50's one better.

True, but I've seen John Carpenter's version and I've never heard anyone mention the version from the 1950's before.

I'm really into a lot of old classic movies from the 40's and 50's.

John Carpenter's biggest influence as a director was Howard Hawks, who directed the 1950 movie, which is cool! It's definitely worth watching even though they're really different takes on the material

(Carpenter also directed Assault on Precinct 13 which has the same basic plot as a different Hawks movie, Rio Bravo)
