127 - Maybe because your fandom involves countries instead of random bishies? Although they might as well be bishies, they're just transplanted yaoi archetypes with country names tacked on.

... It's just a manga/show. To me the value of a show or manga is if they are entertaining, in whatever way. It's a form of ENTERTAINMENT. Fandom [any fandom] is NOT srs bizns. Sorry, but you will never convince me that a form of entertainment that doesn't claim to be educational or perfectly correct or necessarily totally accurate has to stand up to the standards I hold my own history texts or professors to.

Are you actually saying that you think the COUNTRIES are in hetalia? Uh... I hate to be the one who tells you there is no santa, but just because they are called by names like America and Germany it doesn't mean they ARE those countries. They're just bishies with different names. It just provides a starting point that comes with a preconceived notion about the character that name is attached to. An archetype of sorts. Archetypes serve a purpose in all story creation and it uses the reader's previous knowledge to make the person telling the story's job easier. For example, if I were to name a character Lancelot there would be a lot of associated baggage to go with that name. There would be a bit of foreshadowing or a pleasant dichotomy or a surprising twist. Names create expectation and thus inform the story, which is why they're important. But they're still just names.

*shrug* Sorry, but I'm not going to see it your way. I'd rather just enjoy my fandom than worry about the wank. Its just a manga, they're just names- just words, and I'm just a fan.

So these bishies named after countries don't actually carry stereotypical attributes for the countries they are names?
