Yes, excuse me while I gather a compelling argument why sleeping with one's relatives just isn't right. Are you saying that if people you knew in real life, perhaps your good friend, were sleeping with her brother, you'd be ok with that? No judgment? No concerns? Just gung-ho about the whole tryst?

And from a biological standpoint, incestuous offspring increase the chance for birth defects to propagate. So should we ban heterosexual incest couples due to risk of having children with birth defects, and only allow homosexual incestuous couples? Or ban incestuous couples from having children?

Why stop at incest? Why should polygamy be a taboo subject? It's all love, right? Yeah, until you realize that incestuous and polygamous relationships are usually based off some form of societal or mental disorder.

And please don't try to liken this to gay rights; it's not the same thing at all.

Depending on the individuals, if they both seemed happy about it, yeah, actually, I'd be cool with it. It's their fucking business and I'm not about to tell two happy people who are in a relationship that isn't troubled "OMG YOU CAN'T DO THAT IT MAKES ME ANGRYYYYYYYYYYY YOU'RE SICK EW."

This whole paragraph has actually been scientifically proven to be bullshit, actually. Offspring that result from incest are only more likely to have birth defects when the parents have those defects dormant in their genetic makeup. They don't spring out of nowhere like people seem to think! Two unrelated heterosexuals who have a baby who have those same dormant genes are EQUALLY LIKELY to have a baby with a birth defect; it's just more likely for two people who are related to both have the makeup that passes it on. Because, you know, they're related and it's in their bloodline for that reason.

So basically, that whole worry is a crock.

It shouldn't. If you actually pulled your head out of your ass and looked at polygamous relationships outside of the fucked-up religious force-women-into-child-marriage bullshit examples you see on then news, you might actually be able to build your argument on something, you know. Solid.

Um, no kidding, thanks. I know how genetics works. If a homozygous recessive trait is passed on to children of the same family, and those genetically related individuals have a child together, the progeny has a much more increased chance of obtaining the homozygous trait from both parents. The fact of the matter is, the general populous is much less likely to propagate a child with the homozygous traits. Hemophilia, schizophrenia, heart disease, albinism, and mental disabilities are just some of the diseases that are much more easily obtained through incestuous relationships than heterosexual relationships. The statistics do not add up, sorry.

No, it's not the same thing. Incestuous relationships cannot be simplified to those of two homosexual individuals (And if you believe they can, why aren't you fighting for incest rights? I don't see anyone complaining about the law against incest, though apparently all of fandomsecrets believes it's a-ok). Homosexuality IS NOT A CHOICE. Do you understand? Incestuous relationships are a choice. Don't tell me that it's in one's genes to want to marry one's father. Perhaps you, dear lolitsumi, need to do a little bit of research and realize you cannot group partner preferences in one group. It's not that easy, and it's much more complicated.



I couldn't give a fuck what the Bible states, seeing as it's basically a book of ridiculous myths. But it's nice of you to say that, because I agree: you can't argue sexuality and partner choice from the Bible.

I see other people have replied, but I thought I would too. I have absolutely NOTHING against consenting adults who want to fuck each other. I wouldn't want them to reproduce due to the higher risk of birth defects, but I feel like that about ALL adults. I don't think two adults who have high genetic probability to produce ill children should be allowed to reproduce. I am also childfree, so. *shrugs* But that shouldn't be a reason for two consenting adults not to be allowed to be together.

I might raise an eyebrow if two people I knew who were related were together, but I know first cousins who are, and I just shrug at that. I'd think absolutely nothing of it if society hadn't raised me to think it was DIRTYBADWRONG. It might be unwise, but I don't think it's dirtybadwrong. I also don't think legalizing it would really make everyone marry their brother or sister, either.

I also have nothing against polygamy for people who all mutually agree on such a lifestyle. It isn't for me, but far be it from me to tell other people how to live their lives.

I don't recall trying to liken it to gay rights.
