I can't speak for most of the pairings here, but with Morgan/Reid from "Criminal Minds", I do think there is enough in their interactions on the show to where building and developing that into a canon relationship wouldn't have exactly been out of the blue.

Course, I also never expected the show would make them canon or anything of that sort, so... I just shipped them on my own time and left it at that.

I mean I remember it coming out that at some point Reid was almost made bi, but this was shut down by the execs.

Yes! That, too (and there was also talk about Emily with a woman as well, that never panned out). In that case, given CBS' more conservative leanings, I can see where homophobia may have played a part. That, and the fact that up until the end of the series, the show didn't really seem interested in seriously actually putting any team members together. They'd happily throw in some fanservice every now and again for the shippers, but just left it at that.
