Good news, everybody!

(Anonymous) 2020-10-06 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm tired of all the doom and gloom headlines, so let's share good news we've heard, good things that have happened, or good things we've seen.

For me, I met my sister for lunch, and a lot of houses in my neighborhood have great Halloween decorations up.

Your turn!

I'm making crispy smashed potatoes* for dinner tonight. I'm really looking forward to them!

*You cook a pound of smaller potatoes until done (potatoes about the size of a golf ball work best), then smash them on a cookie sheet brushed with olive oil to a half-inch thickness, sprinkle garlic powder, black pepper and salt and bake at 425°F for a half hour.

Oh man, this sounds so good! Especially if you add some cheese...

I make this for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and put cheese on them, then blast them under the broiler for a minute. They're sooooooo good.

My car passed the vehicle inspection with flying colors and I ate some great mango cheesecake.

It was a gorgeous, sunny autumn day outside, not too cold and the leaves are starting to turn. I love this time of year!

It was beautiful here today, too :). A little warmer than usual for this year, but even then, still comfortably so. I too love this time of year.

And it's my birthday, too. Just a pleasant day all around.

Hell yeah, I'm over the doom and gloom too. This week I'm cranking multiple drafts for fics, am still riding the high from my recent Platinum trophy, planning some fun autumn-themed lunches to share at work, am loving these Sharpie roller pens I got during a clearance sale, am super excited to get some original fiction wrapped up, the weather is fabulous, and am just generally trying my best.

Sounds like you're working really hard, anon. That's awesome! What kind of autumn-themed lunches are you planning on making?

Thank you! I've been living off frozen veg lately and I've been craving that fresh crispness. Tbh I really struggled to come up with anything positive so thanks for replying.

Sometimes you just really crave a salad and it's so good when you finally get it!

It was a little cold this morning and I was able to go for a nice walk without feeling like my skin was getting crispy.

That's wonderful! The weather is excellent for it in my neck of the woods. :)

I'm just starting my Christmas shopping. Normally, I don't do any shopping until December, but I thought it might be best to have all my shopping done before December this year.

Damn, you are organized! I haven't even started thinking about Christmas presents yet...

I gave no idea what to get people. Between the pandemic and the election and my mom's unrelated health problems and extended family being threatened by wildfires, it's like *things* don't matter anymore and gifting people experiences is unappealing when all the experiences are cancelled, postponed, or altered.
