i understand 100% that you like stories focused on friendships, of any ilk, more than romance. but frankly if this kind of thing was happening in the west, where a canon LGBT romance is literally erased in an adaptation(or put in as 'subtext' only), i'd still be pissed because there's such a long history of this shit happening to our stories as well as real-history.

the only reason i'm not annoyed at the people adapting BL stories is because their hands are literally tied by horrible homophobic laws, but it's absolutely awful that any notion of gay has to be taken out or it can't get aired, let alone made, while het-romances are fine to be completely explicitly romantic without any wiggle room or need to down-play them(and by explicit here i mean the ability to unquestionably refer to their relationship as a romance, and have them declare romantic love for one another without a thousand work-arounds so you can point out how it's 'nooo, totes bros!!' when the homophobic censors take a look)

i'm not annoyed or angry at you OP, you're allowed to prefer stories with strong friendships over romance, i'm just very tired of the notion that stories about people like me are 'acceptable' or 'better' when we're completely erased from the narrative.

It's good you're not annoyed or angry at the OP, who definitely did not say anything about such stories being "acceptable" or "better" for lack of m/m.

NAYRT I don't think they meant that it's what OP was saying. I think they mean from the POV of the Chinese censors.
