I don't watch CDramas, but I tend to prefer bromances and their ilk over regular romance just because it's so hard to do romance well and very few shows get it right.

Mm. When a professional writer is specifically building a friendship track, you're going to get a lot more subtle bonding moments (and a lot more moments in general, quite often). When they are writing A Romance, it often feels like they're going for very specific tropey beats, so that You Know They Are In Love Because They Are Kissing.

I like subtle, so... yeah.

There are a few exceptions but so far every cdrama I've watched that heavily focused on romance has been really underwhelming and the romance feels awful and toxic to me. I'd be okay with them leaving out all romances if they're going ot be like that.

(I really enjoyed the romance in Maiden Holmes. V. gentle and mutually supportive. And flirty.)
