One time, my usual beta was busy, so I asked someone else to take a look. He had no suggestions and said it was fine. That was the most embarrassingly terrible story I ever posted.

All too common, unfortunately. A lot of people offer their services as a beta, and I'm honestly not sure what they think they're bringing to the table, besides basic proofreading, maybe. I once offered to emergency-beta for someone whose first choice told them that there were no issues, it's fine, etc.

First paragraph had a giant run-on sentence. That's not even the hard stuff, that's basic grammar and it's IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH.
