Re: Petty annoyances thread

Arrghh, that's so annoying. It's as though people want to be one of those amazing, intuitive cooks who don't need to follow a recipe or use measuring spoons and just toss everything in and it tastes great, but they don't realize that most people who are like that got that way by following recipes and learning how to cook first.

It must be frustrating to deal with the crappy end result. Does your dad acknowledge that his food doesn't taste good, or is he in denial about that, too?

Heh, good question! He is very, very in denial.

That said, he has the discernment of a Labrador retriever when it comes to food. He'll eat anything. Like, he routinely eats room-temperature beans on toast because he is too lazy to wait for two minutes to put the beans in the microwave. So I say he's in denial about stuff turning out badly, but he's also just kind of oblivious to the finer points of, uh, food.

I love him, I really do. He's a really good person. But jfc it's like living with a nine-year-old boy sometimes, I swear to god.
