I'm looking forward to this being confirmed as canon. I want you people to be put off from interacting with the fandom forever.

Because you probably will just declare the entire thing toxic. That seems to be how you deal with things you don't like.

I wish. There are whole fandoms full of fans who seem for all intents and purposes to hate everything about canon and do nothing but talk about how problematic and gross it is, but they still do fandom activities based on their wholesome, "fixed" versions of the story and characters, of and simply stick around harassing people who still subscribe to the canon version of things.

The Hannibal fandom is a great recent example. Teenagers piled on the SHOW CREATOR for Liking some "problematic," NSFW art of the show's characters on twitter. Teenagers harassed the adult creator of an MA-rated show about a cannibal serial killer and his canonically abusive relationship(s). Because he liked something problematic created about his show. Which they technically shouldn't be watching because of their age and barring that shouldn't be fans of if they hate problematic themes so much. Yet here they are.
