I don't think I've ever watched a holiday horror movie. It seems like a genre I would totally be into though, so this is going on my christmas list~ Does anyone have any other recs?

There's a bunch of holiday horror movies, though I think most of them skew Christmas over any other holiday. There's Black Christmas, Santa's Slay, Silent Night Deadly Night, Jack Frost, Krampus....

YMMV on how good they are.

Thank you! My mom was terrified of anything horror as a kid so I've been catching up on some of the more obscure horror genres!

I'm not big into holiday horror but Rare Exports went on my holiday baking and present wrapping background movie list because it's both creepy and funny. It's mostly in Finnish, though, but it has subtitles.

I've just been disappointed by indie musicals so many times

It's on my Hulu watch list, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Appreciate the endorsement, though! I just thought it looked cute, and now that I know at least one person has passionate feelings about it I'll bump it up in the queue a bit. :D

(SA - Maybe "cute" is the wrong word. I do know it's a horror movie. Whatever.)

This is one of my favourite zombie AND holiday movies (you know, separately). Especially if I need a good cry.

I love this movie! It's so good! OP has great taste in holiday movies <3

Thought this one was a bit underwhelming tbh. I was excited by the gimmick but they play it oddly straight in some scenes and wacky in other scenes, giving the movie an overall split personality that is part Shaun of the Dead with musical numbers and a very large part High School Musical with zombies. But the separate parts don't really mesh that well so it is a pass for me. The background characters are more appealing than the main character and the main character's storyline/motivation is honestly pretty tired. Some of it was okay though. I wouldn't rewatch or recommend it though.

I love this movie. "No such thing as a hollywood ending" song is on my sing a long playlist for when I am along and want to SING.
