The second and third dudes are decent, but yes, the women on the show were certainly, I would say more attractive.and being a CW show, I'm kind of not surprised by the casting of the guys, but I know they could have done better.

This is also just my taste, and CW has a particular ...formula? For the kinda of guys they hire. So these men all bring something to the table, just not mine lol.

Kinda like the Vampire Diaries casting. I can see why people found the two main guys attractive, but it wasn't doing anything for me. I'd say the same about the guys here. I did think the bastard son was cute tho and an anon mentioned Sean Teale and he's more my type so...taste. that's all.

i'm enjoying the amount of appreciation for sean teale, it's what he deserves. have you by any chance watched the gifted?

Thank you for putting me on to him. I never finished Reign, so I might not have seen him come in.

Nope! If you have any other recs of his work, I'd gladly check them out. He's really good looking (in the way that I like), so it's a bonus if he's a good actor/been in good projects!

you're welcome! he's in season two of reign :)

as far as recs go, i mentioned the gifted, which he had a starring role in, and he was just on a show on apple tv called little voice (haven't seen that yet, since it's apple tv). he was also in skins, but he was much younger in that.

Actually CW at the time had a rep for casting really great-looking guys (Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, etc) and in fact the producers of the show had to fight really hard for Toby Regbo (blond guy) because he didn't look like a standard CW male lead.

Then they kept trying to put him in a love triangle but it kept failing miserably because absolutely no fans would bite for the non-Toby pairing. His character was too sweet and he was too pretty.

Yeah, I know (Dean girl, SPN was my shit back in the day). But there's a very...particular look to the type of good looking men CW tended to cast at the time. You could show me three different primetime shows and you could guess which one was on CW -- ya know? While the blonde guy is on the prettier side, I still think he falls in line with the CW standard. Look at Ian Somerhalder...I could see why people found him attractive, but...it was almost too much? Like handsome Squidward? It kind of doubled back and I just couldn't buy it? But it all falls in line with WB/CW tradition -- Chad Michael Murray (who I find attractive now), Tom Welling (always attractive and pretty), etc.
