Re: What's the worst or most nonsensical case of OOC-ness you've ever seen in a fic?

On the nonsensical end, for a while there was a... not really a trend, but maybe a small bandwagon? of authors writing fiction featuring characters who canonically drink or smoke and make it so they're either somehow faking it or just doing it for show and secretly hate it. Like "MCU Tony Stark really just had apple juice in those lowball glasses the whole time" kind of stuff. If an author was really that offended by the smoking and drinking, it would be easier and a lot less ridiculous to just ignore it all together.

This actually bothers me a lot in fic. It would be one thing if they just didn't mention the characters vices, but when they go out of their way to be preachy or completely delusional about it I have to nope out.
