109. I just cross my fingers and hope until the end that they don't screw it up. And by "they," don't mean just him, I mean the actors and actresses, the director, the scriptwriter(s)... Bah, there's always a horrible uncertain period when you have no idea if something's going to rock or fail hard. (You'll never really KNOW until you see it, but at least when some stuff comes out about it, trailors, etc, you can start making better-educated guesses.)

110. Lol this secret made me laugh just because... the science in Doctor Who? Not that good. That's not a problem, because it's the frakkin' BBC, it's not supposed to be good science, it's supposed to be fun, and it is. But... lol Doctor Who time travel, seriously.

120. I dunno, I get irrationally fucking annoyed when I see anyone making sweeping generalizations and hating the fans of ANYTHING, including series I'm not into. If it's series I (and therefore, way more importantly, my friends) are into? It disgusts me.

Way to go, haters. Keep right on hating, you'll never meet some fucking awesome people if you discount them just because of one thing they like. And that's your loss, but it still hurts to see people I care about being spit on for no reason when I know how lovely they are.

123. ..... Do you ignore the fact that 90% of the Hetalia secrets have been saying they hate the entire fandom, and therefore... the people who make those secrets aren't in the fandom? So yeah, it definitely has a big enough fandom to make secrets about, especially if a lot of them are in response to random vitriol secrets from people OUTSIDE the fandom. (See: 125.)

To put it into perspective: you just made a Hetalia secret, and I'm guessing you're not in the fandom. Therefore... subtract all the secrets made my people who, like you, are not in the fandom, realize that a lot more are in direct response to those secrets (and in that case, even a fandom who only has ten people might conceivably have all ten people make seperate secrets responding to the hate secrets), and it makes way more sense.

125. Are you special ed or what? Seriously? HOW many people did you say responding with "OMG THOSE FICS ARE JUST FINE LEAVE THEM ALONE YOU MEANIES!!!!11!! U JUST WANT SOMETHING TO H8! >(" Answer: ... I'd like to say zero but I honestly don't know if I caught every single response, to maybe like. ONE. HOORAY.

Everyone else? Bonding over and mocking the secrets for the fact that they IMPLY THAT EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE FANDOM SHOULD BE JUDGED BY WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY LIKE. 2% OF THE FANDOM. Oh, and also the anon comments saying "but I can't forgive anyone who would want that, and it's on an ANONYMOUS KINK MEME, so it could be ANYONE in the Hetalia fandom! even if they say it's not! they could be lying! so the only choice is to assume you're all freaks!!"

Seriously. Fucking. Duh. Use your brain a little, can you not see the lack of logic here? If people are turned off of the series or enjoying the fandom because they're squicked by, yeah, things that are offensive that are on a small part of the kink meme of the fandom, then that's a shame. It's when they start spewing hate at the entire fandom because of the existance of SOME offensive fics that people get OFFENDED IN RETURN BECAUSE IT'S RIDICULOUS.

/...soapbox, but god, you people are getting fucking ridiculous. And I'm sorry for the anger but DOES THIS SHIT HAVE TO BE REPEATED EVERY OTHER DAY, YOU GUYS?

Maybe you should recognize that people are juding the fandom for its reaction rather than for the fics before you fly off the handle?

But you have to also put that into context as to what they're reacting to. Yeah, I agree that the idiots, like the OP of 153, need to be smacked. And that if anyone responds to people saying "I don't like this series because it puts me off" or "these fics offend me" with OMG RAGE DEFENSIVENESS, that's ridiculous. But a lot of the time, these secrets seem to come from nowhere. Basically what's happened so far:

*People make secrets about how everyone who likes Hetalia is creepy, the very existance of the series is horrible, and the entire fanbase should be judged because of the existance of some bad shit in the fandom.
*People in the fandom tell them to shut the hell up because it's ridiculous and offensive.
*They do it again.
*People in the fandom reiterate, fuck, SHUT UP, we got it the FIRST TIME, let us have fun, you don't have to like the series but don't JUDGE ALL OF US.
*Non-fans then make secrets like this saying "OMG HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE HOW PEOPLE COULD BE OFFENDED BY THESE HORRIBLE FICS HOW CAN YOU MOCK THE PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE YOUR SERIES JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE IT????"

Yeah, anyone who mocks or looks down on other people for not liking the series, for not thinking it's funny, for not enjoying the fandom or anything like that? Is being ridiculous and I can see that being a turn-off. But as I said, I don't think I saw more than one person responding that way, and you get your occasional idiots like 153 here.

Implying that the entire fandom was mocking and circle-jerking and raging about things just because oh, boo-hoo, other people are ~offended~ by these things is ridiculous because that never happened. I saw 99% of people saying "yeah, most of us don't like that shit either" and getting replies such as "DOESN'T MATTER YOU NEED TO POLICE YOUR FANDOM BETTER" or "but it's an anonymous kink meme so even if you say that, THERE'S A CHANCE YOU'RE LYING SO I CAN'T TRUST ANYONE YOU ALL ARE SICK."

I should be getting less pissy about this, I know. I'm not even that deep in the series or the fandom. But people I know are awesome, good people are, and I got sick of seeing the entire fandom slammed for daring to like the series and having one or two bad apples in it a long time ago. The fact that people don't seem to get that "reacting badly because we're all being spit on" is not the same as "reacting badly because people are offended by offensive fics" and presenting it as, again, the entire fandom doing something that I saw practically no one doing is just as maddening as the people saying everyone in the fandom is sick for whatever dumb reason.

I'm sorry to tl;dr. And I get your point. But I'm really starting to form the opinion that fandom is allowed to start flying off the handle if 90% of the secrets that show up here about us say that we all suck and should be ashamed of ourselves, and I really think this entire secret was a straw-man argument -- yeah, people like that exist, there is proof of them right in this post, but what they're claiming never actually happened and I'm just. Getting really, really sick of it. I wince whenever I see a Hetalia secret now because I'm almost positive it's going to be full of mocking and hate and sweeping generalizations.

Yes, you're definitely proof that Hetalia is full of level-headed fans that aren't affected by criticism at all.

Did you miss the threads back a few days ago where people were patting each other on the back, going "Oh, can you believe I made jokes about colonization? SOMEONE CALL THE PC POLICE! THAT'S SIMPLY NOT ALLOWED, IT'S OFFENSIVE! LOLOLOL!" that went on for pages?

That behavior does exist, Hetalia fans did do that, and if you didn't see it, that's your problem.

And then there's 153, and the secret a few days ago asking for Turkey/Armenia rape. You're a real classy fandom alright.
