DA. Just because there's a twitter hashtag for something, it doesn't mean it's international...

Okay. I don't have Twitter so don't really know how it works.

Wouldn't it be great if the US Americans would also specify when they're talking about the USA instead of assuming it's the default and everyone knows it?

Wouldn't it be great if people could infer things from context instead of loving to be feel uncomfortable when we are not all about me?

NA

But it is about them. If they ever want to make it big, they will need their work to be translated into the world's most common language, English. And then it will be judged by English-speakers, not all of whom will be willing to put aside the standards they've been taught to judge all writing by, for the sake of this one book. So the trends and opinions of English-speakers have a huge effect on the success and failure of ESL creators.

Translation:America is the default and everyone else should just shut up or suck up. We get it.

This is a thread where someone posted about how a pretty specifically American thing - #OwnVoices - doesn't make sense because it wouldn't make sense in the context of their own country

To use this as an example of "Americans wanting to make everything about me" is absolute fucking lunacy. This is literally an example of a non-American doing the exact thing you decry when Americans do it and you still want to turn it into an excuse to yell about American cultural imperialism. Fucking ridiculous.

This is an odd take when more than half the time people don't even say what obscure fandom their secret is about...but, hey, you got a dig in at the US, so congrats, I guess.
