I mean to be fair, I also don't think shit like a Walk to Remember is romantic either.

I like intertwining tragedy in romance but... and this applies to soulmates AU in a way... I want choice to be a feature. Self-sacrifice for love? Romantic! If a character throws themselves in front of an attack for another, I'm probably going to ship them forever.

Not getting any choice in the matter is BS.
