This was my ship when I was in the fandom, and I still like the idea of it. But this, if it is the ship becoming canon, is a terrible way of it happening. And honestly I never wanted it to be canon anyway. I was perfectly content with fanon. Also, a lot of the shippers are really obnoxious so I totally get why you would hate the ship.

I've barely watched any SPN at all but my understanding is that "a terrible way of it happening" is kinda par for the course with this show

Oh yes, absolutely, which is the big reason I didn't want it to become canon. I've had experiences with my ships becoming canon on other things in the worst way possible, and I absolutely assumed that they only way it was ever possible for Destiel to become canon, if it could possibly be, would be an awful version that would ruin the ship.
