YES! My country showed reruns when I was little in the 90s and Illya was totally my fave. I rewatched as an adult and still loved the show and the character.

The movie did him so wrong though. It was fun in and of itself, but it was nothing like the show. Which is weird because I'm pretty sure tumblr would go nuts over someone like show!Illya.

Hard third on that. The movie was fun, in its own way, but it was clearly by, about, and for other people than the show.
Can't believe instead of "partners who just respect the hell out of each other, work super well together, and are totally so in love *cough* professional they can live in suburbia together for an international peace-desiring spy organization in spite of their countries being at actual cold war" was somehow considered less cool than "let's have yet ANOTHER movie where a two guys go from enemies to colleagues; oh, and also rage issues / crime background for the dramas." Bah.
