I got banned from a Trek site once for my fan theory that Tony Shaloub's character in Galaxy Quest had a Chinese name because it was an in joke reference to Dr. Soong being played by Brent Spiner

They banned you for that? That totally makes sense to me that the Galaxy Quest creators would make a joke like that.

Clearly. I love Trek, but I also love Galaxy Quest. It is an absolutely hilarious send up of Star Trek tropes and scifi tropes in general, but in a respectful, loving way.
