Childhood-friends-to-lovers is my favorite of all things to read and write, but I've had the same best friend since Kindergarten and when people suggest we date I'm like, "Gross. I love her but she's basically my sibling." So. I'm on the opposite end of the friend spectrum, but I feel you. Makes for a really satisfying narrative, though!

Lmao I could have made this secret myself! I absolutely love Poirot and reread the stories and rewatch the TV shows (and imo there will never be another Poirot like David Suchet, to me he IS Poirot). I know what happens and why and it doesn't even matter because I simply love the characters and the details in the shows (honestly the costumers and the accuracy detailers for the David Suchet version were on fucking point, every time I watch I find a new detail I never noticed before).

I love this show too, and I also have both zero experience of and zero interest in fishing. I think it's that the show goes so much into the urban legends and the cool different creatures? (Okay, granted, about 70% of them are some variant on a catfish, but still). It's more like an anthropology and zoology show combined than really a fishing show, though he is apparently a very good fisherman.

I have mixed feelings on this subject. On the one hand, people writing about RPF and they're keeping it tagged appropriately in fandom spaces and made it clear that it's not based on reality... eh. These days, it seems to be part of the celebrity package - don't read the fanfic!

On the other hand, yeah. Writing turning a character based on someone real into a misogynistic strawman in fic, it just doesn't seem healthy. I used to be big into J2 RPF in the Supernatural fandom, but when they each got married it just crossed a massive line for me and I noped out. My POV has changed now anyway, and I'm not comfortable at all with RPF, and cringe whenever I look back on my RPF shipping days. But that's just me.
