Pretty sure this has more to do with the fact that you never see fics from the top's POV or even mostly from the top's POV in the first place. If 50% of the fics were from the top's POV, then there's no way every fic could be all about the bottom's orgasm unless all tops are mind readers.

But those fics simply aren't there. Like 99% of fic is from the bottom's POV because most people writing fic either aren't tops or aren't writing ship fic in order to relate to the top/topping because that's not their kink. If anything, the character the authors personally find hot is usually the top because they're imagining the POV from, and relating to, the bottom.

Finding good top-POV fic is hard. Don't even get me started on trying to find good dominant-POV. Most fic writers just can't/don't/aren't interested in doing it from that angle, pun not intended.

This isn't a judgment of that in any way, for the record. I just doubt the trend has anything to do with character favoritism.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to dislike about how Game of Thrones was handled.

But one thing I don't regret is bringing the term "sweet summer child" into popular usage.

It's such an apt phrase and less insulting than just calling someone hopelessly naive.
