You know - I want her to be Lady Thor considering the circumstances around her previous performance explains why it was so lackluster. I think as long as they didn't try the same tricks and gave an actual good script she could have alot of fun and do it justice.

What were the circumstances?

Ok so alot of this probably can be found better said in other places but what I remember basically boils down to this - Thor comes out in 2011 and Natalie has her first baby the same year. She wants to pull back and take time with her kid so lets everyone know that.

This is important as Marvel tends to have their actors under contracts for the movies so they don't take it well. I know Marvel starts courting her hardcore to be available for Dark World (2013) though.

I remember that she only agrees due to a talk with a friend from the Marvel camp, a peek at the script that shows Jane as a non-damsel, and the director being Patty Jenkins.

She agrees and basically reconfirms her contract with Marvel. End result is a sort of bait-and-switched as it wasn't long after she's been signed on that Patty Jenkins gets fired, the script goes under multiple rewrites, and still there are multiple re-shoots (using body doubles) after production is concluded.

And to finish it all off comes the snubbing of her for Ragnarok (what should have been her third contracted Thor film) and subtle smack talking about her due to her non-appearance for the film (or if she'll cameo in later films).

I don't mean to be unsympathetic but director and script changes are part of how movies are made and someone with Portman's experience knows this. If the choice of Patty Jenkins was so important to her, she should've made it a contingency of her contract. Or, as I said, she should've known that movies change directors like actors change costumes.

Also, it's entirely understandable to be disappointed or upset about all those changes regardless, but a professional tries to do their best work no matter what they think of the project they agreed to do and are being paid crazy amounts of money for. It's not snubbing if you do a crap job and they decide to make do without your character in the next film.
