I liked the inclusion of the angels (and Cas ended up becoming one of my favorite characters), but it was pretty clear that they had no idea what to do with them once the main story arc wrapped up. They just kept coming with more convoluted idiot plots to make them weaker so they were no stronger than the average demon.

I didn't like the inclusion of religion because of the offensive way other gods were portrayed. Like Ganesha having a taste for human flesh and being so easily beaten by Lucifer. What the fuck?

Argh, seconding SPN's Ganesha. I know they play fast and loose with a lot of religions and a lot of it ends up with anything mythical/supernatural largely being jerks, but with him, it really felt like they just wanted to have the comic impact of the elephant appearing and ignored everything else beyond that.
