I think the devs just didn't know that trans was a thing. Chihiro's backstory sounds like something written by people who know that there are "boys" who "pretend to be girls" but they don't really know why, but the fact that they're actually trans isn't on the table because they don't know what trans is. So they came up with an explanation that made sense to them and made that the canon reason. (Given the time and place of Danganronpa's story, a lot of the "boys" themselves probably didn't know either.)

Is that transphobia? I don't know. But I do wish people wouldn't be so vitriolic about it. I also wish people who don't see Chihiro as trans wouldn't be so insistent that he can't be. It's a fine headcanon. We take characters who have called themselves straight and headcanon that they're actually gay or bi and haven't figured it out yet, which is, you know, something that really happens to real people. So why can't we do it with characters being trans? On the other hand, I also don't think it's reasonable to say "No cis boy would ever do that," because although it may be more unusual, it's definitely possible. And Danganronpa has tons of characters with unbelievable backstories. Both interpretations can coexist.

I used to be a somewhat know, not really big or anything, Twitter/Tumblr fan-artist, but left after someone made a call-out on me. Most of the call-out was very old stuff where the date was erased + stuff taken out of context, my mental health, especially around people's opinions on me, always hit really hard and in the end, I just run-away and hid in other smaller social media places and just this year I got the courage to post art again. (though none of the old).

The good: My art improved without the need for social media and likes and I no longer care as much anymore when it comes to what was right about me in the call-out, problematic shipping, I embraced it and matured. My new username is better, I'm making a nest where I'm now and just have to wait for people to find me and my content.

The bad: I do miss people there, and can't stop feeling ashamed for just leaving. I panicked so much and dealt with it so badly I still can't even get myself to look for my old username. I'm afraid if the person made up more stuff about me and that they are laughing somewhere while people who used to say they cared about me feel disappointed.

I hope one day I get out of this funky.

I mean...I kind of felt the same way about the clones in Rebels. Their armor didn't really fit them either in much the same way.

It's kind of a toss-up whether it would have been better for them to size the armor so it actually fit Temuera Morrison properly and dealt with the people who'd be pissed that it didn't look like the OG armor anymore (because Temuera Morrison is simply not built the same as the dude who played Boba in the OT and considering the amount of time that's passed and what he went through with the sarlacc it's fine that he's not) or whether it's better they kept it the same size as whatever it was and deal with the people who say it makes him look dumb because it doesn't fit.

But yeah, it looks kind of dumb because it doesn't fit.
