Don't have favorite Christmas movies or holiday episodes, but my favorite song is currently Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses (I posted about discovering the song on here a few days ago). I've also come to love O Come, O Come Emmanuel after someone mentioned it on tumblr.

Muppet Christmas Carol is the only movie I like. Not big on episodes either. But music, I'll take it all. I love Christmas/holiday music. All of it. I have favorites, sure, though that can shift from year to year. But I just like listening to it, and often do year round.

Scrooge (the one with Albert Finney), the Patrick Stewart version of a Christmas Carol, the Merry Little Christmas and Damned If You Do House episodes, the Father Ted and Mr. Bean Xmas eps, Blackadder's Christmas Carol and this work of genius:

I used to love this punk x-mas album I had as a teen. Especially Run Run Rudolph and the theme song from Santa Claus vs the Martians (i think)

It's not Christmas if I don't watch the Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special.

Other favorite movies: White Christmas, Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas, Scrooge and/or Muppet Christmas Carol

Songs: Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth- Bing Crosby and David Bowie, Baby, It's Cold Outside- SPECIFICALLY the version Alan Cumming and Liza Minnelli recorded, where they switch parts halfway through, We Need a Little Christmas from Mame, Santa Baby- Eartha Kitt, All I Want For Christmas is You- Mariah Carey, and any of the Straight No Chaser silly ones.

Other: The Will Vinton claymation special! With dinosaurs introducing different carols! But also, every year on Christmas Eve, my family reads poems out loud-- 'King John's Christmas' by A.A. Milne, 'The Boy Who Laughed at Santa Claus' by Ogden Nash, and the Cajun Night Before Christmas are the three big mainstays.

It's A Wonderful Life
Didn't watch the movie until last year (yeah, IDK how I was able to avoid it living in the US all my life), and it really blew me away! Not surprising anyone but I get why it's a classic.
Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
I was the right age to grow up loving this film. It's not Christmas season until I watch one or both!
I used to love a lot of Christmas films but I guess I found a peak because I can't really stand Christmas movies anymore.

I usually read Christmas After All by Kathryn Lasky, The Christmas Doll by Elvira Woodruff, and all the American Girl holiday books in December.

I love most of the Doctor Who Christmas specials, but my favorite is Twice Upon a Christmas.

My sisters and I always watch Arthur's Perfect Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the Sailor Moon S movie every Christmas Eve. The latter features Tuxedo Mask briefly dressed as Santa Claus, so it counts as a Christmas movie in our heads.

ngl I'm super into the holiday episodes of American Dad. I think my favorite is either the rapture ep or the origin of the evil!Santa story with the massive war on the mountain but they're all pretty hilarious. I like the surrealist and vaguely horror-ific overtones and it's loads better than anything sentimental.

but I don't wait to watch them in December, I would rather binge them in June or whatever.

Love Actually, Scrooge (1970, with Albert Finney), A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life.

The Carol of the Bells is my favorite Xmas song, but i do also love 'Ding, Dong, Merrily on High' and 'The Holly and the Ivy', mostly for nostalgic reasons (and the bit of pagan imagery).

I am on day ten on Covid and I feel like I have not gotten any better. Still can't taste anything at all. So probably going to just watch some movies or shows on my watch list.

So I watched Fatman (2020) yesterday and... was shocked how much I enjoyed it. Basically, it's Home Alone meets Lethal Weapon. Santa driving around in a red Ford instead of a sleigh and packing heat was very surreal.

What movies, shows, books, et cetera did you go into thinking they would be awful but by the end of them, you surprisingly ended up really liking?
