Hello my f!s reply comment, you're kind of tl;dr today. orz

114. Oh god, I know! How dare they spend all their precious time slaving away at work they're so passionate about! Whether they be doing it out of sheer fun or they might even be aspiring novelists that are strengthening their writing skills, it's just disgusting. I mean, it's not -that- hard to get published and to find a good promoter and editor, right? Ugh. And the fact that they're assuming other people would even take a second to enjoy all the work and effort, that there are people out there who enjoy reading through something that long when they can just read a book is preposterous! Go spend all that time on an actual book that can have the same exact content except it's a -book-! It's -supposed- to be that long!

128. Uh... did it ever cross your mind that she was just embarrassed? I get like that sometimes when I decide to take a little while to glance at the manga section of a bookstore only to find other people there. I can't help that I'm being secretly judged for what I'm picking out, which is ridiculous, I know, because odds are I'll never see these people again, but I can't help it. And as much as I hate to say it, I sometimes try to take a peek at what other people get, but that's mostly out of sheer curiosity.

156. FFFFFFF. This secret. Me. It's like, the same sentiments. D: Though I do think that some of the photos that are out there of the band can be very amazing and interesting. There's a bit of an artsy feel to them at times.

163. Are you kidding me? I have favorite series that stretch out over -tons- of genres, though I do tend to drift more towards shonen/seinen stuff. Anything that interests me though, I'll read. I don't care what people think. Guro, shojo, action-adventure, comedy, romance, whatever. I don't see why your friends should be getting so worked up about it. It's not like you're -defiling- the name of certain genres because you're not sticking to only them. "Oh noes we both read shojo but you picked up a horror series! BLASPHEMER." I think it's great when people that tend to stick to only one type of genre end up drifting out to another. It shows the influence of the second genre or series that they're getting into. :)

PROTIP: MOST PEOPLE REALLY DON'T CARE! AND IF THEY DO, WHY DO YOU CARE?

because it's naturally occurring human trait to care about what others think about you, despite knowing that chances are they won't care.

it's nothing to scorn other people about =/

128: ...which is easy to say, but people have different levels of sensitivity and self-consciousness. I can sometimes be this way, myself, and people saying "no one cares" doesn't change that fact.

but people have different levels of sensitivity and self-consciousness

THIS THIS THIS. To be honest, I've never had much of a high self-esteem, so when people tell me things about myself that have to do with their opinion and view of me in some kind of negative way, it -hurts-. I don't like being seen that way in other people's eyes. I hate being unreliable, and I hate being undependable. If someone were to get that from me and tell me, it would definitely effect me emotionally.

It's a rather sad way of going about your life, to cling to the views of others to be happy about yourself, but unfortunately this is pretty damn common in the world, and it takes a lot of time and effort to get over it. A quick, "get over it" never works on some people. Though I do wish it did. ;;

Um, did you stop reading my response there or did you read the whole thing? I said that -It's ridiculous- and -I know it's a stupid thing to be paranoid about-, and yet it still happens. I don't -choose- to be self-concious about those types of things. I've always been like that. It's not something that's easy to get over, and I've tried and managed to slighty overcome it, but it still happens.

And as nice as it is to think that no one cares, believe me, there are some people that do. You know those "if you like this I lose all respect for you" secret makers? I wouldn't be surprised if some of those people are -exactly- the type to go into some mental tirade when they see someone taking part in that exact thing they dislike.

there are some people that do.

and unless they are my immediate family, tell me again why I would care what someone I don't know, ON THE INTERNET, thinks of me, using a pseudonym and how could it possibly hurt me?

jesus people. sounds like you need to grow a spine. this is the internet. most of these people don't even know you and don't care to. why would you care what some stranger that you can't even put a face to, thinks?

Re: #114, 128, 156, 163

[identity profile] radiopowered.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I never said anything about -you yourself- having to care about what other people think of you, especially on the internet. If you yourself are capable of dealing with those interactions with people, whether it be online or in real life, and find it no skin off your back to live with the fact that someone might not like you for certain reasons or judge you for things that you like, dislike, etc., then good for you. All the power to you.

However, -there are people who can't do that-, for an array of reasons (most of which are in the comments replying to the anon that replied to my response of this secret), and it bothers me to have these people treated as if there is something wrong with them. That they're weak or too self-concious and insecure or don't have a backbone/spine or WHATEVER. This is just how these people are, and there is nothing wrong with the inherit nature of a human being. It is a huge burden, yes, and it's not something that you would want to live with, but it happens, and will continue to happen. Getting on their case about it will do nothing except make them feel worse about it then they probably already do.

Also, may I ask where exactly in my comment you heard me say that one should worry about the opinions of others on the internet? All I did was make an example of what kind of people would be the ones to make silent judgments about others in real life. I never said "People need to worry about the judgments made by people who make 'I lose all respect for blah blah blah' secrets, or just people online in general".
